“Lord Lead Me On” by The Primitive Quartet: The Most Heavenly Version

by

In 2001, the southern gospel group The Primitive Quartet released their heavenly version of “Lord Lead Me On” by Bill and Gloria Gaither as part of their album “Still Singing the Old-Time Way.”

The group, which consists of Reagan, Larry, Furman, and Norman, started their career in 1973, only carrying a guitar and mandolin as they traveled across the South to spread the message of God through their music.

Growing up, the four of them made the church their home, so in honor of the old-time gospel singing, the group decided to become full-time musicians in 1978. Over the years, the group has already released several chart-topping hits.

However, aside from their original releases, their cover songs instantly became a hit with many. Their cover of Bill and Gloria Gaither’s hit gospel song “Lord Lead Me On” has brought listeners to tears.

Musically, The Primitive Quartet’s version is more laid back than the original version, which has a more upbeat feel. With the quartet’s angelic voices, it became the most heavenly version that fans love.

Their mountain-shaped note-style singing and the acoustic instruments playing in the background made their version one of the best covers for “Lord Lead Me On.”

Although their version didn’t make it to any charts, even if decades have passed, their cover is still played in church gatherings and religious events.

“Lord Lead Me On” is a song that simply reminds us some things are just out of our control. But instead of giving up and losing hope, we must seek God’s help, as he will be the one who will guide us to the right path.

Find your way to the right path. Listen to The Primitive Quartet’s cover of “Lord Lead Me On.”
